Egmont’s story

Egmont Kollegiet was built between 1953 and 1957, based on a donation from the Egmont H. Petersen Foundation. The foundation was involved in the management of the dormitory until 1974, when the self-governing institution Egmont H. Petersen’s Kollegium was established, independent of the foundation. Since then, the management of the dormitory has been based on rental income from the residents.

The dormitory originally functioned as a hotel during the summer months. Therefore, the residents still benefit from inviting common areas, including the hotel kitchen, the fireplace lounge, and the café.

Egmont Kollegiet strives to create learning and recreational environments that support community life and social committees. We aim for the common areas to be one of the main focal points of the dormitory, where students can gather. The dormitory also seeks to provide spaces for various open cultural and socio-political events.
